About Erie
Located along the shoreline of Lake Erie, Erie is home to approximately 97,000 people. In the surrounding Erie Metro region, the population grows to over 275,000. The city is located approximately one hour and 45 minutes west of Buffalo, New York, 2 hours east of Cleveland, Ohio, and 2 hours north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Erie is known for its natural beauty. It boasts one of the world’s best protected harbours, Presque Isle Bay surrounds the city. There are also several miles of vineyards which are home to five Erie County wineries surround the Erie area. During the summer months, the Erie Region becomes of the largest tourist destinations in all of Pennsylvania.
For 25 years, the Erie Otters have been a staple in the Erie region, supporting community initiatives such as reading at local schools, hospital visits, and supporting charitable causes. In 2024, the Otters were humbled to have been voted “Erie’s Choice for Local Sports Team” for the 10th year in a row.
