UPMC Hamot Hospital

UPMC Hamot is a 423-bed hospital in Erie, PA, offering a full complement of inpatient and outpatient services, and serves as a regional referral hub and Level II Trauma Center. Supported by a 300-member medical staff and nearly 3,000 dedicated employees, UPMC Hamot’s mission is to serve its patients, communities, and one another in the UPMC Hamot tradition of quality, health, healing, and education. The Otters have full access to the UPMC Sports Medicine division and its orthopaedic team. UPMC Hamot is located 5 blocks from the Erie Insurance Arena.

Andrew Kupniewski

Head Athletic Trainer

Andrew enters his 12th full season with the Otters. Andrew graduated with his Masters in Exercise Science from Mercyhurst College in May 2014. Andrew has assisted at NHL Camps and Orientation Camps with the focus on fitness testing and training. He also worked for Lewis Fitness and Performance training NCAA athletes in preparation for their season. Andrew served as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Therapist at Mercyhurst College working with the entire athletic program. Andrew has a very bright future in professional hockey as his ability to train and maintain player’s performance is next to none.

Dr. Francis P. Foti

Team Doctor

Dr. Francis P. Foti is a Family Medicine Specialist in North East, Pennsylvania. He graduated with honours from Lake Erie College Of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012. Having more than 8 years of diverse experiences, especially in Family Medicine, Dr. Francis P Foti affiliates with UPMC Hamot Hospital and is the conduit to the Sports Medicine Team at the UPMC Hamot. Dr. Foti is in attendance for all Erie Otters home games and provides the team with all day to day medical needs.

Dr. Stephen Kupniewski

Team Dentist

Dr. Kupniewski looks after the day to day dental needs of all the players while in Erie. Players start the season with a visit to be fitted for their new mouth guards. As one of the best in business, Dr. Kupniewski keeps the Otters players smiling and the Moms and Dads happy. Dr. Kupniewski is in attendance for all Erie Otters home games and provides the team with all dental needs in-game.

Are Players Insured while in Erie?

Yes. Both Canadian and American players are fully insured in both Canada and the United States.
