Billeting
The role of a billet family or host family is to be a home away from home for the Otters. The Otters ask that players be treated like any other member of the billet family. The Otters hold the players to a high standard and expect them to behave in a manner that represents the organization well while at a billet home. It is important that the player respects the rules of the billet family. The values and principles for success that are essential to become a member of the Erie Otters will be demanded at the rink, in the home, in the community, and in school.
Each billet family undergoes a background check and the home is visited by an Otters staff member for an in-person interview and to verify that the house is suitable for player(s) to live in.
Below is a map of billet house locations for the 23-24 season. The majority of houses are locates in between Fairview High School and the Erie Insurance Arena.
What About Players Without Vehicles?
The Otters arrange for and ensure that players without vehicles have a ride to and from school, the rink etc. A lot of players without a vehicle live with or near a player who has one. These car-pooling arrangements are made at the beginning of the year to ensure the process is smooth from day one.
